Thanks for the comment Kevin,

If you visit the company website you will find their contact information. I believe that they offer on the job training. It can be a rewarding job if you like the outdoors. Financially it is a well paying job.
The Done Rite Exploration website is

I am interested in doing field work. What qualifications do I need to work with a company like Done Rite Exploration. Is there some formal education for claim staking or line cutting or is it on the job training? What kind of skills would they be looking for? If you know, could you please reply. I heard about this company during the summer of 2007 and a buddy of mine knew someone who works for them and said he really liked the work. Thanks.

Hi Lorie-Lynne,

We hear about gold more than other metals mainly because it's more popular as a consumer product as in jewelry etc. and as a historic store of value ie: money. There are some good articles on here about platinum which by the way is now worth twice the price of gold.

When the gold price increases you can expect the cost of jewelry to rise with it.

Why is there always such a big deal about the price of gold going up and down and you never really here about platinum or any other mineral when it goes up in price?

So with the prices going up and down. What does that for jewelery makers, do they suffer for the cost of making the jewelery?

Metal detectors can be useful in finding Gold and other metals. Mostly they are used by hobbyist and for the most part in areas that have known placer gold deposits. There are various models available with different assortments of accessories. Bells and Whistles.

A good place to find more information online is
Kellyco Metal Detector Superstore

Hi Elizabeth,

Gold mines can work on grades where the gold can't be seen by the naked eye, most times it is tied up with other metals and even pyrite ... yes fools gold can contain gold under certain circumstances.
With higher gold prices lower grade ore could be economically mined with the right design.

I think there are still gold nuggets to be found if you know where to look.

Wow! I didn't know that such small amounts of gold - invisible to the eye were mined. I guess I won't be finding "nuggets" then?
